#UniForReading: our role as a civic university  

• In a column written by Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) leader Councillor Stephen Conway, he mentions the ongoing collaborative work between WBC and the University of Reading. The column is published by Bracknell News (in print) and Wokingham Today.

Food and farming:

• Yahoo! News, Kion564, 44News, ABC17 News, KTBS and many other American news outlets republish an article from CNN, quoting Professor Gunter Kuhnle (Food and Nutritional Sciences) on his thoughts about a study looking at the benefits of a Mediterranean diet.
• The Star reports on how a research team from the University of Reading found ways to get children to eat their vegetables through storybooks.
• A story about ECOnourish’s Innovate UK-funded research, conducted by the University, looking at more sustainable poultry feed features on PRLOG.

Business and society:

• BBC Radio Berkshire spoke to Professor Adrian Palmer (Henley Business School) about energy prices, after new figures from uSwitch show that 3.2 million households are in debt to energy suppliers.
• Professor Benjamin Laker (Henley Business School) writes for Forbes, regarding ways in which meetings can be more effective.

• Dr Younis Lahwej (Politics) spoke to LBC News regarding the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza. Professor Rosa Freedman (Law) spoke to France24 on the same topic.  
• Private Eye and Country Life (both in print) mention that Kew Gardens is looking to move its world-famous herbarium to the University-owned Thames Valley Science Park.
• Dr Natthapoj Vincent Trakulphadetkrai (Institute of Education) is one of the 44 academics chosen to work in 21 government departments via the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Policy Fellowship programme, UKRI reports.  
• Dr Alanna Skuse (English Literature) spoke to BBC Radio 3 on the humeral theory of medicine.  
• Times Higher Education, My Science and Phys.org feature articles on a study led by Dr Florence Phua (Built Environment) which found that personality traits are a big factor when it comes to student satisfaction scores. Read our news story.
• A discussion on BBC Radio Sheffield about making the drinks industry more sustainable mentions the University’s trial of the Sustain It bottle scheme in conjunction with Coca-Cola.
• An event will be hosted at Reading Students’ Union for the charity, ShelterBox. The event invites people to discover the world of humanitarian relief work, The Reading Chronicle mentions.
