University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

IPCC Report: The IPCC has recently released its Sixth Assessment Report which declares greenhouse emissions need to be cut by 65% by 2035 to reduce significant global climate impact. Professor Bill Collins (Meteorology) is quoted by Mail Online, Mail+, Express Informer, Big World Tale, Foreign Affairs, Express Digest, and Public News Time on the possibility of a sustainable future, and he was interviewed by BBC Radio Berkshire on what the IPCC report tells us. Professor Richard Allan (Meteorology) is quoted by The Guardian (and in print), Mother Jones, Foreign Affairs, Pina, Euractiv, and MSN on the impact of minimising global warming, and Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology) is quoted by Foreign Affairs on the use of his climate stripes on the report. Read our news story.

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment 

  • Wokingham Today mentions that a written statement by Professor Hannah Cloke (Geography/Meteorology) was read during a protest at Thames Water against the pollution of waterways.
  • Dr Velomahanina Razakamaharavo (Politics and International Relations) collaboratively wrote an article on cyclones in Madagascar and it is published by All Africa.

  • The Telegraph (and in print), and Yahoo! report that Henley Business School's Women in Leadership MBA scholarship competition is also open to men.
  • Professor Benjamin Laker (Henley Business School) wrote an article about how far-reaching the four-day workweek could become and it is published by MIT Sloan Management Review.

  • Post-doctoral researcher, Rich Harrison (Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences) is quoted by The Times (and in print) on the effectiveness and safety of treating various conditions with medicinal cannabis as the UK's first entirely online medicinal cannabis clinic opens.

  • Continued coverage of Dr Manuela Gonzalez-Suarez's (Biological Sciences) research on the link between community size and brain size in various species was mentioned by various stations in the US including KPCC-FM Los Angeles and KSKA Anchorage. 
  • Metro and BBC Radio Berkshire report on various universities' upcoming industrial strike action.
  • Dr Chris Dalton (Henley Business School) wrote an article about management and leadership and it is published by Management Today.
  • Professor Ludovica Serratrice (Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences) was interviewed by BBC Radio Berkshire on her research on the benefits of being multilingual or bilingual as a child. 
  • Professor Louise Hague (Education and Student Experience) was quoted by BBC Radio Berkshire, warning against students' inappropriate use of ChatGPT in their studies.
  • Wokingham Today reports that a new park-and-ride bus service to the RUH, which stops at the University, will be free until the end of the month.
