Ofsted inspection: Professor Julia Waters (Languages and cultures) is quoted by The Times, The Daily Mail, Tes, BBC News, BBC News, Sky News, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent, The Sun, Greatest Hits Radio, Kiss, Hits Radio, The Irish News, KentOnline, Reading Today, Reading Chronicle and many more in reaction to a coroner’s conclusion that an Ofsted inspection ‘likely contributed’ to the death of her sister Ruth Perry, headteacher of Caversham Primary School. 

 

Higher education success: The University of Reading won the Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership award at the Times Higher Education Awards 2023 for its Planet Partners initiative, Times Higher Education reports.  

 

Envision Racing: BBC Sport, Formula Rapida, Fia Formulae and Motorsport.com provide coverage on a new partnership between Envision Racing and Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology), which will see Hawkins’s ‘climate stripes’ featured on the team’s car and kit next season. Read our news story.

  • Vineyard Magazine mentions that Professor Richard Ellis (Crop Science) and PhD student, Alex Biss, have produced a method for predicting the quality of still Chardonnay wine vintages.
