University of Reading appearing in news media including TV and radio

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment 

  • Dr Xiangbo Feng (Meteorology) was interviewed by Sky News on the causes of Typhoon Doksuri, which has led to widespread flooding in Beijing and northern China.
  • Professor Chris Merchant (Meteorology) is quoted in The Times on a study from Climate Central that found four-fifths of humans were affected by heat linked to climate change in July.
  • The Daily Mail (Available in print - request print copy) reports on extreme heat, quoting Professor Hannah Cloke (Meteorology/Geography) .
  • Sky Sports reports that Professor Ed Hawkins’ (Meteorology) climate stripes design were featured on Reading Football Club’s kit.  
  • The Times (Available in print - request print copy) features an article on July’s wet weather, mentioning that Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology) led the Rainfall Rescue Project, a historical archive of rainfall in Britain.
  • Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology) writes for The Conversation, (republished on ForeignAffairs and Informed Comment) on the climate consequences of new fossil fuel extraction.  
  • Coastal Care has selected an image based on the climate stripes, created by Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology), as its ‘photo of the month’.
