Historical fun: The Conversation publishes an article on bizarre historic leisure activities written by Dr Jacqui Turner (History) and Professor David Stack (History). Foreign Affairs and Geeks are Sexy republish.

 

#PlanetPartners: working with global partners to protect the environment 

  • Professor Andrew Charlton-Perez (Meteorology) is quoted in The Guardian and The Observer (in print) on the difficulty of naming extreme weather events.  
  • The Mirror reports on a dangerous ‘heat dome’ set to sweep through Europe. Professor Hannah Cloke (Geography and Environmental Science) is quoted on the danger the UK faces due to the UK with the forecasted temperatures. MSN and Daily Record republish.
  • New Scientist (in print) quotes Professor Ed Hawkins (Meteorology) on the consequences of climate change after recent extreme weather events around the globe.
  • Dr Akshay Deoras (Meteorology) is quoted in Times of India, Bhaskar Live, Social News XYZ, Daiji World and many other publications on the break in Monsoon conditions in India. Dr Deoras is also quoted in The Weather Channel, Lokmat Times, The Weekly Voice, Sakshi Post and many other publications on how the break in conditions has caused rainfall to move to the Himalayan foothills, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
